Some folks have ask for some psalms/hymns to listen to/sing at home in this strange season when so many of us in so many nations are social distancing, sheltering in home, facing work and school disruptions and abatement. I wrote a little article (here: https://ligonduncan.com/hymns-for-every-congregation/ ) and listed some of the best hymns that we all should know, but I’ll try to do some posts here that may help and encourage you.
By the way, you should always have a hymnal at home! Let’s start with “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” based on Psalm 46, with words and music by Martin Luther.
Here’s a simple piano accompaniment if you want to sing along: https://www.hymnal.net/en/hymn/h/886
Here is some great background on the hymn and even some commentary on the the Hedge translation by David Mathis of Desiring God (a fellow Furman University alum), as well as a new translation by John Piper: https://www.desiringgod.org/ar…/a-mighty-fortress-is-our-god
