He is Risen! Fear and Joy
If you have your Bibles I’d invite you to turn with me to Matthew 28. We have now come to the final chapter in the gospel of Matthew, and now at the end of his scroll Matthew, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, begins to recount for us the resurrection of his crucified Lord. And the story itself is gripping and even surprising in its own way. Last week as we looked at the end of Matthew, chapter 27, we said that the overarching thing was God’s providence. Even in the death and burial of the Lord Jesus Christ God was preparing to vindicate Christ in His resurrection. We saw that the Lord was preparing the way to show that those who were accusing Jesus of being a deceiver, the Sanhedrin, were in fact themselves the deceivers.
