The last time we were together in the book of Numbers, we were looking at Numbers 21:1-9, that deeply moving story of the Lord bringing judgment on the grumbling people of Israel in the form of poisonous snakes; and then, having cried out to the Lord for relief in repentance and in supplication, having gone to Moses and begged that he would intercede for them with the Lord, the Lord appointed Moses to set up a brazen serpent, a copper serpent, whereby all who looked on it were saved.
