James 1:1Permanent Servant of Jesus If you have your Bibles, I'd invite you to turn with me to the book of James in the New Testament right after Hebrews as we begin a study of this great book together. I want to say a couple of things by way of introduction as we begin this study, and the first is to draw your attention to the author of this book. The author of the book of James is, in all likelihood, James who is the brother of our Lord, the one who moderated the first General Assembly of the Church as recorded in Acts chapter 15. There are a variety of reasons for believing this. One is the most prominent other James in the New Testament was James the brother of John, and as you may remember from Acts chapter 12, he was one of the first martyrs of the Church.
