Romans 1:26-27 God Gave Them Over (2) If you have your Bibles I’d invite you to turn with me to Romans, Chapter 1. The first seventeen verses of Romans are shot through with the gospel, even though to a large extent they are introductory. In the first seven verses Paul is giving greetings to the Roman churches. Even in the context of those verses he draws attention to the gospel in verses 11 through 15. He’s basically sharing the shape of his desire for coming to minister at Rome, and even in those words the gospel is present. In verses 16 and 17 he gives you a summarization of the gospel, the theme of the whole of the rest of his book; and he tells why he’s so excited about the gospel.
