We’ve been studying the Sermon on the Mount for the past few weeks and we’ve said so far that the Sermon on the Mount is our Lord’s word to us about what it means to be a Christian in the world in which He’s placed us. For us that means what it means to be a Christian in this pluralistic and secularistic society in which we live. We saw that He began with a series of blessings which He said belonged to all those who were followers of His, all those who were members of His kingdom.
