If you have your Bibles, I would invite you to turn with me to Matthew, chapter 26, the 69th verse of that chapter, as we come now to the end of this passage, which we have said all along is preparatory to the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. Every event recorded by Matthew, in Matthew, chapter 26 prepares us for what we are going to see in Matthew, chapter 27 on the day of our Lord’s crucifixion. It sets the stage and such is the case with the passage we are studying today. Let me just say as you are turning to the end of Matthew 26, you can’t understand the passage which is before us now if you don’t remember what we learned in Matthew 26, verses 30 through 35.
