Ligon Duncan III I'd invite you to turn with me to chapter one, as we continue to work our way through the Book of Luke. We’re in the passage which is known as the annunciation; that is, where the angel Gabriel comes to announce to the Virgin Mary God's purposes. It is a well-known passage to us. Luke is of course pointing to the greatness of Jesus in all of these stories. It is important that we not lose sight of that fact. He is clearly paralleling the story of the birth and the life of John the Baptist and of Jesus Christ at this point, but it is not so much the similarities that he wants us to focus on, but the differences.
