When last we left Abraham, this 100-year-old man who had a son by his maidservant, or the maidservant of his wife, had just been told that his name had been changed to be Father of Multitudes. And this was significant, because we know that this man had waited many years in expectation for the promise of God. His own heart has now more and more decided, ‘Well, I guess the Lord is never going to give me and my wife a child. We began our study of the life of Abraham last week after a number of weeks looking at Genesis 1 through 11. We, of course, are beginning the life of Abraham at this juncture.
